The Three Essential Internet Marketing Tools

  • Internet Marketing Business Models

In it’s simplest form internet marketing is to do with how to monetise your site.  You may add some affiliate Google Adsense (pay per click) links, set up Google Adsense ads, or open up a simple e-Commerce site selling t-shirts or e-Books.  Internet marketing, however, is to do with the whole deal and concerns every aspect of your site whether it be just a long-tail-keyword niche site, or a full on global sales empire.

  • The Three Essential Tools

Three Essential Internet Marketing ToolsThis site deals with SEO (search engine optimisation); web-site design; and with keyword coherence (a logical keyword strategy).  We delve into things like Google Adsense, Blogger and WordPress too, but primarily it is those three tools that are discussed here on BizBlog.

  • SEO, Site Design, and Keyword Coherence

SEO, web-site design, and keyword coherence are the keys to unlocking the MMO (make money online) potential of your site. It is really, really important to get those three basic site-building bricks cemented firmly in place.  If you want to build a proper business, with an effective growth strategy, and the ability to keep growing, then make this your top priority.

  • Is Content Really King?

There are some who trumpet the value of a particular aspect of site building, like “content is king”, or “backlinks are everything”, and yes, they are very important, but we believe that they are all secondary to the above 3 points. You could actually build a high traffic site with nonsense content if you get the other things right, and it could still work, but pertinent content would really launch it.

    Gee, you must be talking about AskMen. The articles on that website are bland, and the linking structure they have is great for SEO, but horrible for readers.

    ..and yet they still get traffic or they wouldn’t be doing it.

    Regardless, I resonate with you- content is king and eventually the search engines will find a way to make it a requirement to get good listings.

  3. SEO is basically like a big puzzle. All of the pieces are important, and having some pieces in place without others in place will still get you somewhere, but the whole point is to get all of the pieces in place and to do it right. That’s when you really start seeing good results.

    @TM

    Thank you TM, you make my point for me very succinctly when you say; “the whole point is to get all of the pieces in place and to do it right!”.

    Good one! 😀 – Rhys

  5. Eh, I think I’m one of the few people who actually enjoy articles on AskMen. 😛 They don’t have the high page ranking unlike before, but I still visit the site anyways.

  6. Emma Smith says:

    I definitely agree that a well-rounded approach is necessary. “Content is king”, for example, is generally true–you have to have great content. However, I have a number of friends who write incredibly well on their blogs, but they don’t know a thing about SEO. As a result, no one ever finds and reads their blogs!

  7. Rhys says:

    @Emma

    Thank you for underlining my point so succinctly! I visit so many nicely written and informative blogs that haven’t ever got a single comment added. It is so sad, I think, when bloggers put in all that effort of composition, then have no-one reading and sharing it.

    All it takes is a little effort to understand the SEO basics, and after a while putting it all in place becomes automatic. It is mostly about having a coherent keyword structure and non-distracting and simple site navigation. Think about breaking your subject up into categories, then keeping every post “keyed” into a single category, and linked to related posts.

    You know, I’ve worked with a ton of different clients who all claim to have the perfect solution for SEO, yet all of them are flawed in some regard. Too high of a keyword density for one…non-existent keywords for another. Gosh, it seems like the formula for perfection is full of nothing more than a lot of trial and error. A good site with good marketing and good maintenance will of course fair the best, but it’s a matter of getting all those things to work in coherence that seems to be the problem. I guess we all just have to keep trucking along in search of said perfection.

  16. Sorry but I have to disagree with you on content & links being secondary to seo, web design, and keyword coherence.

    “You could actually build a high traffic site with nonsense content…” – yes, aggregation still has its uses, but monetizing with nonsense content is difficult.

    Google is about presenting the most relevant content to searches, so yes, content will remain king.

    Actually…so far as my experience goes…u practically do not need any backlinks to get good serp…believe me…i have created autoblog, with very focussed keyword base niche…it is very easy to rank them high on google…stuffed with spinned content (trash)…BUT, the bounce rate is pretty high from this sites…which actually delivers nothing…views never go beyond the home page…
    So as far as my view goes…SEO without content is worthless effort.

  27. I agree with you, you can actually build a high traffic site with nonsense content. People are advertising their traffic service on forums and message boards. This is crazy! These are most likely coming from computer bots and therefore not a good source of traffic.

  32. I am still figuring out this backlinks thing whether dofollow or nofollow. Which one is better? Some people say dofollow is most important and others say it doesn’t matter. SEO with keywords sprinkled in to posts sometimes make very little sense to the human reader and yet get lots of traffic. I think it’s just a matter of experimenting to find out what works best.

  38. Nice article but I think the most important factor if someone wants to have traffic in the long run is to give something of real value to your visitors. If visitors find your content useful they will come back for more information and additionaly they will suggest it to their friends. In that way backlinks will be created organically with all the advantages that this give to SEO.

  45. Florence says:

    I have a question for you, it has happened many a times when some large community blog sites have requested me to re-publish some of my posts, in that case, what is the picture if I re-publish my post as it is? Though it is done by me, then also it is content duplication – am I hurting myself? What is your opinion, should I take some time and re-write some portions of the article so that it doesn’t become a duplicate copy?

    Google says there is no “penalty” for duplicate content, but SE ranking definitely gets affected, right? So what should I do so as not to hurt myself? If I give a link to my original post beneath the duplicate content, with a rel=canonical, will it help? Does rel=me have any importance here?

    [I am talking about a non-English regional language which doesn’t have enough content in the Internet, AdSense is also not available for that language. So we’re trying to create content as much as possible.]
