The 109 Day Link Building Explosion Review

The 109 Day Link Building Explosion Review.

The Tucson SEO Solutions website offering the The 109 Day Link Building Explosion leaves me with serious doubts as to the SEO competence of its author. The scheme is all about mutual linking and offers a 109 day series of 4 – 5 links with reviews.  The concept is “that you would leave a comment and join in on what we like to call ‘Scratch My Back Marketing’. We would then scratch your back with a Do Follow Keyword Luv anchor text link to the web page of your choosing“. Great idea! Excellent theory, I thought, but the reality is:

  • Missed The Point

It seems to me that the Author [Signs herself only as Admin] has missed the most important point of the project: If you want to encourage users to join in with commenting, and linking as a mutual help exercise, then it seems fundamental to me that you need to make the reviews attractive to your readers so they will WANT to visit the site.  If the only things you can find to say are negative, then surely it makes sense to find other sites that you CAN be positive about??  It’s quite illogical to publish negative reviews of sites that you want people to visit.

  • Comment Luv Ignored

Here is the Tucson SEO review of the site owned by the creator of CommentLuv.  ”

Fiddy P - http://www.fiddyp.co.uk

This blog covers a wide variety of topics from WordPress to marketing a website. Today there was a discussion about adding video’s to a site. This blog also uses the plugin Comment Luv. Comment Luv pulls your latest blog post into your comment and provides a link to that post. So what you end up with if you have a blog is two links for one comment. We are upgrading our site and we will be adding this feature.

Given the enormous contribution this plugin makes to blog back-linking – it amazes me that Andy Bailey is given no credit here, in fact it seems the author is quite unaware that he is indeed the plugin’s owner.

  • We Are Supposed to be Grateful

Here’s a quote from Day 85. It seems that Tucson SEO expects us to be thankful for her ‘taking the time to visit and write a short review‘.

“This blogs link and review were pulled and here’s the reason why. I took the time to visit their blog and write a short review. This was their reply on this blog thanks for the link.” Now, considering that the blog is about being grateful, this certainly shows a lack of gratitude. I am flabbergasted. It would lead one to believe that the gratitude suggested on their blog is a marketing ploy rather than a serious attempt to express gratitude… Wow!”

With a little bit of luck, the ‘Review’ of my blog will also be ‘pulled’ after this response.

  • Gratuitous Personal Remarks

Here is her ‘Review” of this blog:

One thing that you can tell is that the blog writer has a much reddened face and a healthy crop of grey/white facial hairs. The tagline reads “monetize your site.” This explains what the blog is about every well. It also uses the Comment Luv plugin! So I ask again why do you not have a blog?

Well I’m sorry Geraldine that my high blood pressure and ancient whiskers aren’t to your taste.  I’m taking regular pills for the first, and praying about the ever-increasing daily onset of the second fault, so maybe you could overlook it this time??

  • Explosion now Imploding

Seems that The 109 Day Link Building Explosion has now collapsed, according to this post : the PC with the files and passwords died[Sic].

Thanks for the right-up kinda. I am also most through with the program and yours has been the most interesting response of them all.

The program has not collapsed although I did experience some technical difficulties. The bigger issue here has been the over all success of the program. I have more work than I ever have had. This came at a time when my business partner has been unavailable for the last four weeks.

As for thanking Andy I was waiting until the plugin was installed and working for a few weeks. I guess that you didn’t read the latest post. Comment Luv was provided a link to that post that praises Mr. Bailey.

As for your short 47 word review of your blog it will stay. I just could not find much to write about. I put an average of 4 hours searching and reviewing sites and blogs to write about. Sometimes there isn’t much to write about. Sometimes I find that sites are flawed and I write about those as well. Sometimes I am just burnt out and the quality suffers at three AM!

By the way Geri’s name is in the whois but she is not the writer. You can thank me for that. As for the Admin issue. That’s has never prevented me from commenting on a site.
So I doubt that visitors (those looking for links)really care whose name appears as the posts author. Heck, let me sound like a real hick and claim I don’t know how to change it and it was never been an issue with me. I am very happy to be admin. Although I prefer Admin Dude!

I can only conclude that you have been upset the I chose to focus on your physical features presented in your photograph. For that I will offer an apology. I never meant to offend you. That is why I don’t have my picture on the blog. I am not branding me I am branding Tucson SEO Solutions.

I hope that you will accept my apology. I never thought what I was seeing was evidence of a medical condition. I though your red face was sunburn. I though why would you put up a picture of your sun burnt self. So there it is. Geri thought the same thing

I really do advocate ethical link building and helping others. What I found interesting that I have reviewed 440 sites and you picked out 3 reviews that you didn’t like! That’s sounds like a success to me. I guess when you review sites and should expect to be reviewed.

I gotta ask did you read all 87 days? You pulled stuff from day 15, day 68, and day 85. Wow!

Finally the average link total that I have obtained when doing this program averages 13.2 per day. By visiting 5 sites that allow user generated content. These are not limited to blogs only it also includes forums and social media sites that provide Do Follow links!

I happen it love what I am doing and I sleep well at night.

I cherry picked my way through about 30 pages and it was your bad luck I hit a lot of unfriendly reviews – Murphy’s Law, I guess.

Quote:”As for your short 47 word review of your blog it will stay.
So much for the value of your apology…..

Quote:”Sometimes I find that sites are flawed and I write about those as well.
My site is not flawed. I was upset that you attacked me for totally non PC reasons, and probably put off anyone who might have clicked the link to my site, a site of which I am proud and have good reason to know helps a lot of people. Do you still maintain that what you did was doing me or any of your readers a favor? What about all the other sites you were prejudiced about?

I find it surprising that she didn’t know that if it wasn’t for Andy Baily Commentluv simply wouldn’t exist. At least, according to her last post she now knows that it was Andy who brought commentluv to life.

Oh, I think you got your wish, I couldn’t find your link on day 85.

BTW, you should install a subscribe to comments plugin so that those interested can keep track of posts they are interested in.

@Mitch – Yep, getting a link is good, but not so good when it’s tied to a critical review and there is quite a lot of very negative comment.

You said; “I think overall it’s more about the experiment than anything in depth“. Quite right, but what a howling shame to stuff it up with negativity, instead of cashing in on a really good idea by building positive links!

Hi Rhys! Until you left your comment on my blog alerting me to the ‘review’ on 109LBE I wasn’t aware of it at all. What a bunch of malarky! The twit obviously doesn’t know what Genealogy is, calling it “Gemology”. More than anything though, it was a low blow to include my physical condition (Fibromyalgia) as part of the review of my blog. Saying that I post regularly even though I have it makes it sound like I have nothing to share with the world. Nothing was said about the value of any of my posts. Well, you know, I refuse to give any more time and certainly no link on my blog, to such a useless bag of wind that is the author of that blog. Thank you so much for your kindness by telling me about the review.

It was reading all the other ‘Reviews’ like the one he did for you that convinced me to shine some light on the subject. The nicest thing you can say about the reviewer is that he is sadly lacking in sensitivity.

Submitting to web directories is a vital part of every successful link building strategy. Apart from driving traffic to your website through direct referrals, web directories provide static, one-way links to your site, boosting your link popularity and improving your rankings on the major search engines like Google and Yahoo.

    1. Link building posted the following on December 1, 2009 at 3:42 am.

What you have said is exactly right. We have to work on one way link building rather on 3way or link exchanges.
If google comes to know then there will be a penalty.

    Rhys,

I have to say, I came upon 109 a little late. I saw some of your comments on blogs that he had on his site and I assume you had followed his link there.

I’m surprised by the back and forth and some of the comments. It had seemed like this community was really trying to help people with SEO through building ethical link building.

Early on I noticed 109 had some typos and often the review was confusing and not only spot on. For me I saw that as an individual who was doing the work. At first I saw it as unprofessional, but then I really appreciated that at least there was someone trying to do it and trying to help me.

There may have been some inadvertent insensitivity, but I saw and see it as unintentional. Example: If I remember the review of your site, I got the impression that it liked your content, but not your design. That’s one person’s opinion. An opinion that generated a lot of traffic to you.

Ultimately, it seemed some people took things way too personally. Blogs are for personal opinions so why are we surprised when they are expressed? At the end of the day I hope everyone gets what they want out of trying to positively contribute to the SEO world.

      @TFR

You said; “At the end of the day I hope everyone gets what they want out of trying to positively contribute to the SEO world.” This was my whole point that this was a vehicle for “contributing positively”, but was being badly driven by some “reviews” that were negative and personal.

You said; “….it seemed some people took things way too personally.” How else can one take personal remarks”? – which is exactly what they were. The quote was “One thing that you can tell is that the blog writer has a much reddened face and a healthy crop of grey/white facial hairs.“. According to you my heart condition and my advanced age are suitable matters for public criticism. I hoped we had moved past that kind of prejudicial, infantile sniping now we are in the third millennium.

You said; “If I remember the review of your site, I got the impression that it liked your content, but not your design. That’s one person’s opinion. An opinion that generated a lot of traffic to you.” I’m sorry to tell you that that is all totally incorrect. His review attacks me, not the design, the content opinion expressed is neutral, and no traffic was generated by his review. The traffic I have got has all been generated by this protest post, [and that is traffic I would have preferred not to have].

    LOL… This thread kills me.

I actually had to explain to the TucsonSEOSolutions guy (and yes it is a guy, named Urban, don’t know who Boris is.. might be his girlfriend as Urban and his girl run the show over there) what and how CommentLuv worked. Maybe it’s my fault for not sharing that it was Andy Baily’s creation, and Andy is one of the smarter guys in regards to online marketing… but who knows!

Anyways, these two over at TucsonSEOSolutions are jokes, they’ve never had a client who needed any real SEO work. From what I gathered from working with Urban is (i) he’s a cheap f*&^, and (ii) he is far from being a true SEO.

Hey Urban… you ever rank a site with more than a 1,000 competitors – I can answer that for you, “No”! And you probably wouldn’t know where to start… here’s a clue, it takes more than building a WordPress site!
